RTAC is a watchdog group dedicated to protecting and maintaining your pension and health insurance rebates. We work WITH the CTPF but are not a part of it.
Comments: While many may be doing the happy dance about Judge Belz recent ruling against pension deform in Illinois, please know that the fight is not over. Fred Klonsky's blog has many good points that retirees should read and be aware of at this time.

Comments: FINALLY there is some sense of sanity in the fight to protect our pensions. It should be clear as to what the Illinois constitution says and means but the politicians want us to take the heat for what they did. Let us hope that Chicago's Mayor will take note of these rulings and leave us and our pensions alone.

Comments: CAN'T BELIEVE TEACHERS UNION FOR QUINN WHEN HE WANTS TO INFLICT SERIOUS HARM TO TEACHERS PENSIONS.
Comments: I do agree with Cindy about the RTAC home page. It is very disorganized and full of old news that is no longer relevant. It really needs to be modernized and cleaned up so that everyone can easily find the important information, not things that happened in 2009.
Comments: To Cindy-Send your outrage to the legislators in Springfield. They are the ones who have stopped all bills that would increase the amount of money the CTPF can use for health insurance subsidies. That amount has been frozen at $65M for years now. But there are more and more retirees and higher and higher premiums. The result is a lower subsidy. So send your outrage to Springfield. Hopefully everyone will do this.

Comments: Does the RTAC leadership even know the non-medicare health care subsidy has been cut to 50% raising premiums to hardship levels? I don't see any mention of this catastrophic decision by the organization we have paid to represent us. Where is the media coverage, where are the joint efforts of RTAC/CTU/CPAA? Where is the outrage on behalf of your members? Of course it would help if the home page was focused on CURRENT ISSUES, in an easy to view format, not filled with unnecessary fillers and out-dated posts. And where are the email addresses of RTAC leadership so we can contact you directly and immediately with concerns?
Comments: To JKeene - RTAC is a very worth while organization. It gives out important pension news as well as prints the Bulletin for its members. It costs money to run a website, publish the Bulletin, send down lobbyists to Springfield, and hire attorneys to fight the many injustices thrown our way by CPS. It only costs $50/year for all this. If you want to know who died, join up or find a member who will share their Bulletin with you. Sometimes you need to put out a bit of cash to get the information that is important to you. Just sayin'.
