RTAC is a watchdog group dedicated to protecting and maintaining your pension and health insurance rebates. We work WITH the CTPF but are not a part of it.

Comments: Seems like retired teachers and CTU members need to get a rally going for blocking Amendment 49...maybe at the Medinah Golf Outing Sept 29? Or a two week boycott from shopping to show impact of reduced pensions on local economy....all should watch Bill Moyers show aired in mid August with national union strategists who suggest boycotts to stand up to the Oligarchy...Did not hear a word about unions from the Democratic convention... TRS friends and many CPS teachers do not even know Amendment 49 is on the November ballot!!!
Comments: Oh boy. Just had a long meeting with my state senator along with two other retirees. We are in for a terrible cut in benefits. Funding ratios are not important, health insurance and COLAs are not part of the guaranteed pension, the state has no money, CPS has no money, the list went on and on. There is no sympathy or empathy in Springfield for those of us already retired.
Please visit your legislators soon. Start preparing now for cuts in health care and COLAs. And start to write to news shows like WTTW Chicago Tonight and ask why no one on their panel discussions of pensions is standing up for current retirees.

Comments: It is not IF we will be hit but how much damage we will sustain from the state and from rahm. So many toxic bills, so little time. Perhaps RTAC should have a blogger board to keep everyone up to date on themost imp. bills and what can be done for each.
One of the worst,to me, is HB 3827, giving CONTROL of the CTPF to the mayor of Chicago. No more elected board members, only apointed members, the majority appointed by the mayor himself. Can you imagine how many budget woes could be solved by "loans" from the CTPF? Can you imagine how many benefits we would then lose? Seriously.
