I would agree that MM is not a good character. However, politics makes strange bedfellows and since rauner was "elected" (in reality, no one had the stomach to vote for quinn), MM has blocked many anti-union legislation and has been one of the only ones between CPS and bankruptcy. Let me remind everyone. If that happens, federal law applies and we are no longer protected by the IL constitution and its pension protection clause. And since we are a government pension, we are not protected by the federal pension insurance either. This is rauners dream. Focus on those that are really hateful. rauner is the biggest weasel of all (followed by elaine nekritz who has never seen a pension she doesn't want to slash).

In 19999 our pension was funded at 100%, but by 2014 it had fallen to 51%. The political constant during this time was and continues to be Speaker of the House Michael Madigan. Madigan and his cronies have decimated our pension. As Barb so astutely stated: "We need to keep watch over the weasels..." STAY VIGILANT

Is anyone else enraged by CPS/rahm's treatment of Troy LaRaviere? It seems that, if you work for CPS and do not have a strong union behind you, you do NOT have freedom of speech on your own time. He spoke up for teachers as well as children. But he made that pro-Sanders ad that mentioned rahm and it was not a good reference. Fair, yes, but not good from rahm's standpoint. No constitutional rights here in Chicago if you don't have the power behind you!

The union says that part of the reason for the task force is indeed to take away our health ins. subsidy. The CTPF says no, that is not true. So it is very confusing how we, as members, should react. No one can give me a straight answer.

What is the possibility that the task force on health insurance will try to take it away and could we then sue using the same logic as was used against TRS when they reduce the health insurance?

What is RTAC's position on HB 5681 that will open discussions on our retiree health insurance. The CTPF seems to be in favor of it. But CTPF does not explain what it will do and how it will affect us. Any thoughts?
